3:73 to 4:10

3:73 to 4:10
I put 4:10 gears a while back into my 01 silverado... Berfore I was able to beat my friends HD Duramax with Edge chip, intake and exhaust... Now I have my truck runnin right and we race and my front bumber was right at the back of the cab... Before we would race and I would get him by a truck lenght.. And now he catches me on top... Those 4:10's help me jump ahead but as soon as he gets into top of 2nd and into 3rd gear he starts to get me.. Should I get another tune or what? Also I have a dead spot from 1500 to about 2600rpms... Should I just get a stall or get it retuned?

You could also adjust shift points up a few hundred rpms to make up for the loss in mph. A stall would help in getting past the dead spot for sure. Plus, the rpms will not drop down as far when shifting gears.

If you're getting a 3500 stall there is absolutely no need for 4.10 gears. You will blast right through any gain the 4.10 gears would give you and have to shift immediately because the gears will be shorter than the 3.73's. I would suggest going with 3.73's.
