I'm curious what your thoughts are on 3.73's and 3rd gear? Will 3.73's pull harder in 3rd than 4.11's? I'm considering gearing down to a 3.73...overall opinions? I'm running a 28.9" tire, when I installed the 4.11's I was on 31" tall tires and 20's. But now I'm on 17" wheels with much shorter tires.

3.73's will not 'pull harder' than 4.10's or 3.43's for that matter; what they will do is pull in a different MPH range. You simply have to decide what speed range you want to be in when you are in 3rd gear.

good point...but I had always "heard" that ratios like 4.11 caused the truck to fall off in 3rd gear. I think V8(Kevin) posted one time about going from 3.42's to 3.73's to 4.10's and he had the same mph, just got there faster with the 4.10's. That sort of backs up that 4.11's are good for takeoff, but lag in 3rd - doesn't it?
