Default 4.10 or 4.56?

Picked up a 2011 Silverado 4.8 with intentions on supercharging it eventually. It is 4x4 with 35x12.5-20

stock gears in it are 3.42s and I can definitely tell it is very weak down low and the mileage is way off

looking at re gearing it with either 4.10 or 4.56. Daily driver, very little towing, but when I do, it’s a small car trailer with a Honda CRX on the back.

Daily driver performance is what im after. Don’t need all out power, just want better towing power and more all around performance out of it now that it’s gutless with the 4.8/35” tires

thanks for your recommendations guys and gals.

Do I have to modify the pumpkin at all to fit those gears or will they drop in?

You don’t have to do anything to the housing. It’s not a job to do yourself if these questions are being asked. Ha e someone who does gears set them up and save the hassle. 4.56 is fine for that and will make about 2200 rpm cruise at 70mph. (Assuming 4l60)

Oh I agree, it’s not something I would do myself. I will do most things on my own, gears are not something I will mess with. It is the 4L60

i came from the 5th gen Camaro that I Boosted and rollcaged and road raced so I have a fair bit of mechanical knowledge. But gears I won’t touch.

Thank you for the information.

With that small short stroke engine and those heavy 35s, I would go with 5.13s. You will barely notice the extra revs (2,400 @ 70 mph) and the truck will be much more responsive EVERYWHERE.

Excellent advice right here.
Stroke is only 3.267" little motor needs ALL the torque multiplication you can get.
35 inch tire, 5.13 axle
Gear.......... RPM........... Speed
3rd...........6000 .......... 120 mph
OD ...........6000 ..........170 mph

I have a 6.0l 2500hd with 35's. I swapped my factory 4.10's for 4.88's. Love them. Keep in mind too with the supercharger you might be looking at a 4l80e swap later. If so your 1st gear will be a lot taller. I'd go at least 4.88's maybe even 5.13's.
