Default 4.10 Genuine Gears

I just recieved my 4.10 "Genuine" Gears and install kit. Has anybody used this brand of gears? I will be installing them this week but just wanted to hear some opinions on these gears. I bought them new for 210 shipped since I couldn't afford the 800 dollars gm wanted for their set of oem gears.

Thumbs up gears

I have used geniune gear 2 times and both are quiet, and have not broken either one... 1 is in my S-10, that has a 406 sbc in it, and the other is in my 81 z28 with a t56..
they were both easy to set up also, I think I had to switch the shims on both of them and i was done

Good luck!!!

I got the quote from a friend of mine that works at a dealership here in odessa. I already have them so I hope they work out pretty good. If not it wont be the first time that i've had to learn the hard way not to use cheap stuff. At the moment I couldn't pass up 200 bucks for gears when my cam really needs them. thanks

FYI. Just to let you know, 4-Wheel Parts sells Genuine Gears, but they will not install them in any GM vehicle due to the lack of ring & pinion gear trueness. The mechanics there state that most of the kits have a poor matching set of Ring & pinion gears. Basically they do not have a small amount of lateral run-out in the ring gear like their higher quality sets of gears do. They say the run out in the Genuine Gear sets are usually pretty high. Which makes shimming very difficult. They said the best set of gears they found for GM truck have been the O.E. gears.
A friend of mine works there and he informed me of this.
Hope they work out for you.

Jim

Found this old thread while searching for gear info. The 4.10s from 4 years ago have held up great and are taking 800 hp like nothing.

i lol'd when i saw the age of this thread. i just pulled my genuine gears for some 4.30's. they took 3 years of my abuse, and who knows how much abuse from the driver before me (i got them used). they rode quiet, and never gave me any issues and im not exactly easy on my truck if they made 4.30 gears, i would have gone back with genuine.

Rons Machining sales them. 250 ish range. Gm oem gears are made by AAM. You also have to remember that there made by an out side source, GM and there middle men have to mark them up befor they make it to the dealer.
