4.30 Gears for the 8.6...
These gears set up beautifully with a 0.39" pinion shim. I recently installed a set of Motive 4.30 gears in TXsilverado's truck. Aside from the awesome pattern I was able to get on the gears, TXsilvy told me that they were quiet as well.

I never understood this???? I broke mine in at the track the next day...
When I used to work at Ford, and they had the ring and pinion recalls, I saw my buddy set up at least a hundred of them, and NOBODY was ever given any break in instructions, most got right on the interstate and went home. None ever came back. There is no way the gears are ever gonna get as hot in the diff as when they are hardened at the manufacture. I think the gear vendors want you to keep it slowed down for the first 100 miles so in case your set up wasn't done right, you won't be going at high speed when it fails...
Probably been sued by goons that thought they could set up a diff..
