Default 4.3L, nv3500 with 4.56

First off yes im going to do an engine swap bit i cant get to that until next year. In the meantime im doing everything else tgat wont take a lot of time as im workiny 70hrs a week right now. Basically suspension-beltech complete 2/4 drop kit wity performance shocks, rear sway bar new ball noints and bushing etc.

It's a 2002 RCSB silverado 4.3 rwd, nv3500 with 305/40r22 tires(31.6 tall), And 3.42 open gears. Going to a 6.0w/t56 6 speed with 4.56 and truetrac aiming for 450rwhp .

If prefer to rebuild the rear end now when I do the drop kit and brake kit. But I'm worried what 4.56 gears will do with the 4.3 and nv3500. Can anyone help.me out with what to expect. I pretty much only drive in town almost never on interstate and only occasionally on the highway.

I run 4:56’s in my truck with a 6.0 and 78mm and it is a monster.

The gears will really help get you going with that baby motor. But don’t fear the gear. It’s not THAT bad, just a bit more wound up on the highway, but cruising around town they are perfect. They are also great for light to light runs

I had 4,56 in a camaro with a t56 and it wasn't too bad. Not as bad as the nvg4500 with a 3,73. First was still useful. Probably even more so in a big heavy truck. Good for hills and traffic.

you serious? i have 3.90/t-56 in my z06 and when putting around i have to shift 1st around 12mph to keep rpms under 2500, at WOT i shift right around 40mph @ 6800 and your 4.56's was not bad?

The T-56 in the F-bodies were mostly 2.66:1 with the 3.90s the final 1st gear ratio would be 10.37:1.
4.10s with 2.66 1st gear 10.9:1

I run the 4.1 rear and 3.06:1 1st gear for a 12.55:1.

The T-56 in a ZO6 is RPO M12 and has the shorter 1st gear than the other transmissions. It has the 2.97:1 1st gear ratio. With a 3.90 rear gear and 2.97:1 1st gear of the M12, it gives a 11.58:1.

You 2 are comparing 2 different ratioed transmissions.
You also have to gear for the T-56 fir its super high 0.50:1 6th gear. This is where the lower 4.1s work great for cruising. Shifting from 4th to 6th cuts engine rpm in half.

peace
Hog
