If I could do it over again and with what I know now, I would have bought a 4.8 5 speed instead of my 5.3L auto!! Why you ask, because i would probably now have a LQ9/T56 truck, but oh well, what did I know in 2001?!

ive got an 00 RC stepside, my throw-out bearing is going pretty quickly (squeeking/grinding really bad)...just gonna replace everything with a cheap OEM replacement since im getting a T56 for it in august (gonna spend some of my college money...but oh well, figure T56 swap for new x-member, tranny, etc. will be around $3000 total since im gonna run a new tranny).

Anyway...think with the other $2000 i might get SLP's ZL402 and get the ol 293 to a 402. Just have to see how much machine work will need to be done.

how strong are the 5-speeds in the 1500s? I'm getting a new truck and still figuring out exactly what I want. I'm getting a 4x4, and I eventually want to do the 6.0 swap, but if its going to eat the 5-speed I'll just get an auto.

everyone say's there weak as hell, but mine has been fine w/ stock motor. i run it pretty hard. i hear at lot of auto guys have problems w/ stock tranny. 6.0 will eat either one . t-56 would be a lot cooler

I went a 12.58 @109 and 445rwhp 489rwtq with a 216/224 .558 .558 114 cam and Pacesetter longtubes, Radix with 13lbs boost (3.0 pulley), Meth injection. This was on the stock tranny and stock clutch(2005 4.8 5 speed). How much money would you have to spend on an A4 to get it to hold up to that kind of power? Around $2500 with converter probably. Yeap, them 5 speeds are weak as hell.
