I am currently building mine with similar goals... comfortable street ride with predictable traction, good handling at the autocross and traction at the drag strip. I am trying to do it with stock leaf springs first. However it will take three different sets of wheels/tires to do it but with minimal suspension adjustments (shocks and traction bars) between tasks. I think with a four link, it all could be done with one set of wheels/tires but would require lots of testing to get the right settings for each task. Like mentioned previously, if you don't need the room for a big tire out back, no reason you can't make leaf springs work.

Seems like the majority say stay with leafs.

I ordered all the parts to build a 4 link yesterday. We'll see how it goes.

Either can work well with the proper setup and some knowhow. Start you a build thread to show off your progress.

Lets put it this way.........they all work........but the limits are different.

There is a guy or two here that will say, there are leaf spring trucks with 60's in the 1.30's, so there is no need for anything else.....thats just non-sense.
