i just cut my factory cooler lines and clamped hoses on em and ran the hoses to my cooler. keep it cool for sure, i beat on it pretty freakin hard today and it didnt get over 158. just normal, city is about 135 and highway is about 125 with the weather we're having right now. you can see where i have in in my signature pic, its behind my GMC emblem behind my grill.

Yea. I agree.
I bypassed my radiator cause it was clogged up.
Trucool 40k with a stock 80e converter. The last time i saw 150* was towing a hog trap back into the swamp a couple miles off road.

I run a Tru-Cool 40GVW unit and experience about the same temps as everyone else that has responded. I do run mine in conjunction with the factory cooler in the radiator and while I understand everyone’s reason for not doing so, I do like the fact that the operating temps get up faster. While everyone knows how brutal the temperatures can get down here in Texas most of the time, when winter does hit and the mercury drops, I don’t want to have to cross two county lines before the converter will lock. Of course that is an exaggeration, but until the fluid warms up, usually just a few miles down the road; it does allow higher engine revs. We all know we shouldn’t beat on our pride and joys until they are up to operating temperature, but that doesn’t keep some from doing it and anything to allow everything to function normally is right up my alley. That and anything can break, from headlight to taillight, there is nothing in between that is an exception.
That being said, there is nothing wrong with following the others suggestion of just bypassing the radiator, given you go with an adequate sized cooler for the job. Hell off-roader’s have been doing it years.

ok thanks guys! I was kinda planning on bypassing it but wanted to make sure. What did yall do about the radiator? did yall just leave the holes open where the original lines went, or block them off? I will be running a tru cool 40k. Heard nothing but great things about them! O yeah did u guys buy the one with the valve or somethin in the kit? Seen them on Ebay last night. Pretty cheap assurance to a new stall.
