Default 4l60 / 4l80 / 6l80 testing

Holley just released their 6L controller this week and got one on order. Next up is to get a converter ordered for a 6l80. I'll be able to do some back to back testing of a 4l60 4l80 and 6l80 in the same truck with the same engine setup so curious to see what differences there are in the 1/4 mile

Have you seen any significant times between the 4L60e vs 4L80e? The website from Jake's Performance website says elapsed time deltas are negligible. 🤔

How about the 6L90e? I believe the rear gear train is beefier than the 6L80e (I wonder if that would have a large effect on ETs), but you don't hear much about either of those areas causing catastrophic failures anyways?

In my first turbo truck I built back in 2005 I had a yank tt3000 in a 4l60. Broke it several times. Then went to a stock 4l80 and stock converter. It picked up a couple tenths and few mph. I don't rem exactly but it was an improvement which was surprising. 6l80 and 6l90 don't have much of a difference really. But I don't have have any experience with I'm in a 1/4 Mile prospective. I've swapped more th400 into cars and truck's that had 6l80s cause of transmission failures at the track in turbo setups

Go ahead and do the power glide upgrade when you have to go into it. The stock stuff is so small it’s ridiculous to think it could hold power.

Yea my transmission guy knows all the little tricks with the 6L transmissions. he build them for the 1200hp vettes and camaros. Till they break internals and swap to a th400 eventually haha

A heavy *** truck with huge wheels and tires will hurt one more at 700 rwhp than a vette at 1200. Lol. I know that from broken parts.

Best thing I did was add the tru cool 40 though, it keeps it under 150 95% of the time. 6l80’s don’t like heat at all.

Oh i know. i shy away from all the 6L 8L and 10L transmissinos. Ive never hurt a 4L80 yet so i stick with them.
I swapped in a few dozen 6L from the stealership last year and most of them had weird issues and had to swap them out for another trans.
