Do i need to put the 5 pinion planetary's
in the front and rear on a 4L60 build ?
I know i need the Beast sun shell and a good
set of strong clutches in the 3-4 clutch apply.
are there any other hard parts that are really weak
and should be replaced ? front pump vane kit ?

If budget allows do a billet output shaft..i really dont use 5 pinion planets not really needed imo especially with a stock output shaft..if the output shaft breaks it will wipe out the planets...if you really want to use the 5 pinion planets go for it just try and use a billet output shaft..beast sunshell or sonnax will do..BW double caged sprag..vette servo or if budget allows the sonnax servos..and for the 3/4 pack i would do at minimum a 7 friction setup with .20 to .30 of clearance make sure to use at least .76 steels..also a sonnax LB1 or LB2 boost valve will be a good add on..any questions let me know ill gladly help you build a solid 60e..edit forgot to answer the pump rotor question i mainly use a 10 or 13 vane rotor with new rings..aslong as converter is spaced correct you will be fine.

I'm trying to pick up a 4L70E to rebuild, I want
to have it ready to swap into my truck when i
do my LSA swap. I'd like to keep my stock trans
in one piece. for another swap. it;s in good shape.
where can i get that sprag and 3/4 clutch pack from ?
thanks for the good info. only looking for around 500-550hp
out of my LSA swap. NA is making 400+ now.

you can find it any where from ebay to local transmission shops..we order everything threw what ever it takes transmission parts...and the 3/4 pack you just need to order the steels/frictions..might have to buy different size frictions depending what overall clearance your shooting for..do some searching on ls1tech you will find a lot of usefull info on 4l60s

Yep...I told myself my "built" 60e would last as a DD as well and it did...Three times. It will give out...the 80e swap is the easiest upgrade to any truck build. A piece of mind that is well worth it.

60e
Well, i am going to do 1 60E for my wimpy 500hp
truck. if it doesn't work out then i will go the 80E
route. it's a lot of work to fit it in my small floor pan.
I don't have the room like a Silverado does. everything
is damm tight in a Colorado. GM really squeezed stuff
in it.
