Vince were you at FLT when a TCI lower gearset was used in a 4l80e? There were some fitment issues that required some machining. I think you may have
left for your newer job.
The owner has this trans in a 4wd rcsb gmt 800 truck with a 5.0 GEN 3 engine.
They make the 80e ratios a 2.97:1 1st gear and 1.57:1 2nd (from 2.48:1 1st and 1.48:1 2nd).

Not sure , hit the rev limiter in second gear while I had the shifter in "2" . Coast to a stop and nothing! No gear at all. Won't move in any gear. Its my DD so i put the old slipping one and stock converter in last night. Looks like I may have busted the pump by peeking in there with a light. I still have the input and output shafts sticking out of each end...

a bastard PI 4k reworked by chris at cirlce D its a 4600 now which i hadnt yet to try out, i think this is gonna be the icing on the cake to go mid to deep 10s NA in cool weather, personally i dont think you need a refresher on the level 4, she should hold up just fine. then again i dont kno about FLT transmissions or what parts are used in the level 4.
The new set up is in BTW.

Sounds similer to my recent failure. Was driving about 65mph with cruise set then all the sudden the engine rev'd up and I had nothing. I did hook up the pressure gauge and the needle didnt even budge.
Gaulded up the snout on the converter a little but I am going to be sending it in to be gone through just to make sure.

Yes I did install a few of those gear sets and I think I machined everyone I installed in one way or another. Not sure if TCI ever got it all straightened out or not but I made them work as far as I know. In a couple of cases we used a late 400 gear set and had to add the reluctor for the output VSS. At the time no one offered this piece so I made it happen per the customers request! Another one I did they had made a mistake with the rear ring gear if I remember correctly and the gear set would bind. This gear set had the reluctor but they made a mistake with the late model rear ring gear. After about a dozen phone calls with them and them sending me another set it still did not work. So I basically fixed them both and sent one back to them so they could fix their issue and see what I did!
