4L60E to 4L80E crossmember modification
Switching to a 4L80E and im kinda confused with some of the measurements and swap details. Here's my q's.
Does anyone have or can get measurements of their modified crossmember.
From what I have read the member has to move back 6". But I have seen posts where people say to use 4"x1/4"x10" flatbar. If the crossmember is 4" wide then how is that going to be long enough? Wouldnt you need 14" lengths?
What transmission yoke and u joint should be used?

well I have my member off right now. If your a 04 ECSB, I will get measurments for you. Ive seen a lot of variation in several different crossmembers..... But I think if your the same year model it would be fine....

I odnt have a camera my parents took it this morning. But Looks like i used some 1/4 by 4inch by 10inch flatbar. Offset of 6 inches looks about perfect. And that should give you a little play front and backwards.
ANd by offset of 6 inches, I mean move the center of the tranny bolt hole back towards the rear end 6 inches.
You shouldnt need to move the bolt hole higher or lower, nore side to side. Just straight back. And like I said should have some play.
Another note is to be sure to keep the bolt holes that go to the frame at teh same distance. I used a cut off saw and didnt have to do a whole lot of grinding. It took out right at 1/4 of an inch of both sides. I ended up grinding one side cause I cut it crooked lol.
Dam that confusing... I will try to get a pic before I leave town today...
Yours is gonna be like this, but a lot more agressive of an offset.https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...=424904&page=6
Heres some pics. Mine looks like Blownchevy but without the gussets and not as nice. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=430283
Just slide that whole section back, shouldnt matter where you measure from as long as you keep it consistant, bolt hole to bolt hole, or front edge to front edge ect...
