I went to a dealer to order an 80E shift lever and he said it's the same part # as for the 60! Does anyone have the 80E lever part# so I can get the right one? The 60 lever doesn't work quite right, it's too short.

man.. I hope this doesn't happen to me..

guess what guys... I ordered the 4L80E bracket almost 2 weeks ago and just looked up the status of it and it's on back order...... what the hell is up with these damn brackets? dealership told me they don't make them anymore, so that is why I went and ordered it online and apparently they don't have it either.. Even when you do a search on this site, there are numerous threads asking "where to get 4l80e shifter bracket" and there are no replies!

I just went to a junk yard and bought one off a 4l80e, but go figure- it doesn't work... (holes are wider, just like the 4l60e bracket).. the guy told me some 4l80e's have a different bolt pattern.. and they don't have any of the kind I need. He might have just given me one off a 4l60e to get my money..

is there any ways to jerry rig this stuff? (reason being, I have to tow a trailer 1200 miles next week.. my 4l60e 2-4 band is burnt/slipping so I have to have this done by the end of this weekend)

Alright guys here are some pictures. I'm starting to worry if I have the wrong transmission or something.

here is a full side shot of the transmission. It 'supposedly' came out of a 1998 2500 silverado

here is where the bracket mounts on everyone else's transmission. As you can see mine has no holes for mounting there...

here is the bracket from the junk yard

here is the bracket on the transmission, which seems to fit perfectly on the spot that I see it mounted on everyone's 80e's, but mine has no holes to mount it to

have I been screwed?

I'd just drill & tap new holes. The bosses are there.

I went thru this, that bracket is for a new style 80e IIRC,and i think i Originally had my shifter mounted with longer pan bolts and appropriate spacer to get it up enough to work.

At worst, you can get by without a shifter for a few days, just put the E brake on and slide under and put it in gear. Sucks, but your still driving.
