4L60E to 4L80E Wiring Swap
#73
Because that is what I have...
I'm not trying to be an *** here but if you can explain to me why an 80e is better than a 60e maybe when it comes time to get something different I will look for an 80e instead. I understand the 80e is a heavier duty transmission but why would I need it if all I want is a fuel injected 6.0L in my truck with a reliable tranny backing it up. Oh, and the truck is a '71 C10 stepside.
Thanks,
Adam

i read the post wrong..
i thought you were replacing the 80 with the 60
if you have a harness for a 80E, your best bet might be find a 60E harness.
Or you can move the brown wire in the connector and add a wire for the TCC lockup. and you can sell the Front VSS to some of these guys lookin for one.
let me look at the print and ill tell ya.

Cool, I appreciate the help and I guess I could have done a better job explaining what it was for. As far as the ISS plug goes I am waiting for a reply from a guy on another forum to see if we can do something with mine maybe a straight up trade.
Thanks
Adam

that would be easier... you know how to get the harness setup to run the engine in the older truck? its super easy. cliff note version: all the pink wires need ign power, orange wire needs 12+ all the time for the pcm, there is a black wire that needs grounding.. once you get the tune setup, just fire it up and go. The big purple wire is the starter solenoid

Here is a couple things I would like to add.
I am swapping a 6.0 and 4l80 into an older pickup and I bought a stock harness online. The harness I got is for a 5.3 and 4l60. Everything is the same other then the trans wiring mentioned in this post.
I pulled the trans plug and removed the S and T pins in the round plug, then moved the U pin into the S pin location. Now I am left with the S(white wire) and T(tan with black stripe) wires. The S wire is pin 79 on the blue connector and the T wire is pin 42 on the green connector. I also need to have 2 wires running from pin 22-23 on the green connector to the Input VSS. I just moved the T and S wires from their pins (42 and 79) and put them in the 22 and 23 pins and them connected them to the A and B terminals on the new Input VSS plug. No need to run more wires.
So swapping 2 pins on the computer, and pulling 2 on trans connector and moving a 3rd. Then adding a VSS connector is all thats needed to swap(other then tuning).

The VSS plug with the light/green (pin 20 on the green connector) and purple/white (pin 21 on the green connector) wires should plug into the VSS on the 4l60e with no changes.
Currently, the other VSS plug should have a Red/black and Dark Blue/White wires on it. The Red/black wire should go to pin 22 on the Green connector. The Dark blue/White wire should go to pin 23 on the Green connector.
The first thing to do on the trans connector would be to move Pin S into the U location. Now you have the T and S pin location open.
If you move pin 22 on the green connector to pin 79 on the blue connector then add this to the trans connector in the S location.
Then move pin 23 on the green connector to pin 42 on the green connector then add this to the trans connector in the T location.
If anybody sees this different, please chime in.
