Default 4l60e 4wd to 2wd

is it as simple as a tailshaft change to convert a 4wd 4l60e to a 2wd or do you have to swap internals?

No there is more to it than just swapping the extension housings. The output shaft would have to be swapped for the correct one. In order to do this the bell housing, lockup solenoid from pump, pump, reverse input drum, input drum and the band will have to be removed. Then there is a snap ring that keeps the shaft in place. Remove the ring and then the shaft. Reverse to assemble. Vince

I believe the crossmembers are different between the 2wd and 4x4 (?) Your rear driveshaft would also need to be from a matching wheelbase and 2wd donor. And I'm pretty sure the transmission in your truck needs to be 1993 or 1994.

1995 was a special 1-year version. 1996-2000 are different as well, and I get lost after that. LS1tech website has some good threads on compatibility years, but again, yours in like a 1 or 2 year only.

I don't know what to say about having a FWD truck though...😒. I guess if it gets you by the summer. Just don't try to do donuts. Maybe hang out with the Ridgelines for the summer? 🤷
... I'm joking, sorry.
