Default 4l60e hd2 kit problem

Hey guys im posting this for a friend. We are in the process of installing a transgo hd2 kit in his 1500 avalanche. Now i have some experience with the 4l80 in my truck as i put an hd2 kit in it as well. We got his truck all back together today and it feels as though its starting off in 2nd gear and seems to flare up on the 2-3 shift, it just slips and does not shift as it should. Took it back apart and ran through all the steps again and couldnt find anything obvious. Its sitting apart as week speak an we are gonna take another whack it it tommorow but i wanted to know if any one else has had a problem like this. I searched and found threads on other forums with the exact same symptoms but no one ever replied as to what the problem was. My only thought as of now was that the separator plate and gaskets are not perfectly aligned with the valve body. I am sure its something simple...just part of the fun of modifiying vehicles lol. Any input from you guys would be great. Thanks

Alex

I would suggest looking at the 1-2 accumulator piston seals and the second gear band servo seals. These would be the two places guys seem to have issue with. Hope this helps. Vince

Thanks vince. He is determind to put it back to stock now after getting discouraged. I told him to just wait it out and look into this further and ask questions...was planning on calling transgo tommorow to just pick their brains. We will see what happens if he has any issuies again after undoing everything. Some people just dont have the will power to wait out an answer to a problem....so all the time was wasted. Thanks again for the input....i will let you know what happens.

Also make sure that you have both shift solenoids plugged in correctly and if you used grease for the checkballs that it has melted. I hope you get it all figured out and please let us know what you find. It helps others in the future! Have a good one. Vince

Well its all back to stock except for the heavier spring in the servo and it seems all back to normal so he says. I guess this means that there are no tears in the seals you had mentioned. Im wondering if the iso valve needs to be the bigger one that transgo offers as this is a serta rebuilt tranny (this is tranny#3 in this truck....4l60's dont like him). That valve is one thing i wish i had measured....though if i remember correctly it seems as though it fit in there well with no binding
