Raybestos pro series wide band or the sonnax red wide band-either is fine
"corvette" ratio servo is fine
super hold 4th is good if you plan to do long distance or ever tow
Smart shell yes
No need for billet shafts or planets for your application
As for heavy duty clutches...just go with factory Borg Warner stuff
Tans everywhere, except "high energy" in the 3/4 pack--
For the 3/4 pack use the sonnax Heavy Duty 3-4 Clutch Backing Plate Kit 74140-01K and run 7x .062 frictions and 6 of the .095 steels. May need to mix in a couple .106 steels or .080 frictions to get desired clearance. Put the thickest steels/frictions to the middle of the pack.

My personal favorites for the 4L60es are the alto kolene red clutches if you are going to go all the way through it. Theres a buncha people that make good parts for these, The altos are what our distrubutor handles so it's what I use but just another good option. You've got a good parts list going.

NO ALTO
I know lots of guys have used them and had good luck...as a builder that's done this for a while...the number of times I've seen ALTO delaminate the paper from the steel is a reason for me to avoid them.

How about a replacement reverse drum? Is a "reconditioned" drum a good option, such as this: https://cyclonetransmission.com/prod...rse-input-drum
Or new aftermarket? Or should I just go to GM?

Another question: Sonnax offers their "Smart Tech Input Housing." This houses the 3-4 clutch pack. I was going to ask if you thought it necessary. Since I don't have a problem with 3rd or 4th currently, I guess that's answer enough to the "necessary" question. Maybe a better way to put it is, is that part money well spent? Or wasted money?

How about the reverse drum? There are reconditioned options, which are cheap ($63); aftermarket new, about double the reconditioned (about $150); and new GM, double the aftermarket ($215). Suggestion?

The drum question has been answered. I called Cyclone Performance Transmission in OH about their reconditioned reverse input drum. When I told him about the wide band, he advised against using the reconditioned drum. He had new aftermarket for $100 which he said is made by the same vendor that manufacturers the Delco part. So I bought the new aftermarket drum.
I still need to get gaskets, seals and clutches, which I guess I'll source from the local Chevy dealer.
I'll probably start digging into the trans tomorrow. I have several other big projects going on, though, and another truck to drive. So this one isn't a rush, though I would like to get it done.
