4L60E no shift after 2nd
Just bought a rebuilt transmission my old one went out, installed this one supposed to be better, corvette servo, kevlar bands ext.. Installed the tranny everythings plugged in fluid level is good, took it around the block to find that the tranny would NOT shift after second gear when it wants to its like the truck is in nuetral it just revs up with no go. It wont shift into third manually or automaticall, im clueless on what could be wrong, i wanna say i got ripped buy these guys i bought it from but im not sure maybe theres something i missed. ANY suggestions would be great thanks. I live in alaska bought the tranny out of florida (not many options up here). Just want to be sure i didnt miss anything before i spend *** LOADS OF MONEY.

well if its going into second then ur 2/4 band is fine.. looks like its ur 3-4 clutches... if there was a problem with line pressure this could have caused it to slip once making them burn up..now did it start to feel like this since the first spin or did it actually feel good at first then it lost 3rd?

My understanding is the same, if you have 1st and 2nd then it is not the 2/4 band. Because it is the same clutches with the band applied, that is why when you lose 3 you lose 4, and if you lose 2 and 4 together to look at the band. But I am so ignorant and green at this, that I am totally wrong and don't know it and know so little that I almost didn't post. But since I am having a similar issue and I am getting ready (today maybe) to pull my tranny out to replace the 3/4 clutch based on reading that I thought would post and learn more. And I agree about Vince being one of several people who seem to really know these wonderful inventions that we call 4l60e transmissions (heavy sarcasm). I am subscribed to follow along. Sorry for the rant

Ok so I really don't kno that much about how the tranny works but why would I lose 4? It's good in second but not fourth, and the way described if this band was bad I wouldn't have second either

I would say that you have lost your 3-4 clutches. If reverse, 1st and 2nd work then that is how I have read that these act when they go out. But again I am in the same boat and I am only guessing from what I have read.
