Default 4l60e question

Will a 4l60e from a '99 suburban work in my '03 silverado? Some of the places I have seen said yes and some say no, is it because the suburbans are behind in the transition or does it depend on the engine that was in it, 5.3 vs?

Found out that the suburban had a 5.7 vortec, so does this make it a no go? Or could it be a go with a bell housing change? Thanks for any help

You will have to get a unit that does not have the lt1 engine platform for your03 Silverado. 99 is a tricky year in trucks because of the transition of the engine platforms. There is more to it than just a bell housing swap. The stator in the pump is different and so is the input shaft in the input drum. I hope this info helps you find a unit for your vehicle. Vince

bell housing is fine

you'll run into different converter issues . . . miss matched years, bolt patterns. I don't know about the front/rear out put shafts
