Finish Line Transmission, Performabuilt,, or Gilbert at Ace Transmissions can all build nice transmissions.

Read this thread word for word, it pretty much tells you EVERYTHING you have to do to swap to an 80e. It's not too terribly difficult.

I was in the same boat as you, the 80e swap is simpler than it seem it would be.

did you do the 80 swap in your truck? I already had my trans rebuilt 4 years ago along with a re gear but i guess the rear gear didnt help as much as i thought it would

I'm in the middle of swapping right now, been working on it the past 3 weekends when I get time.

I have an 07 new body style 2wd, so mine is a little different in the wiring, and no transfer case to deal with of course.

After my 6th 4L60E died I am doing this same conversion to 4L80E on my 2001 Z71, got all my info from the same link that Slammedsilvy recommended, great info easy to follow. Transfer case was easier than I expected thanks to clear photos. I think I may have screwed myself with a cheap tranny guy, I fear I got what I paid for. Think you will be glad you choose this route, wish I had a long time ago, would have saved me a ton of money on 60E rebuilds.
