4l60e torque converter not locking up!!!
hey guys, i just recently swapped my tired 4l60e in place of a performabuilt level 2. Before I had a stock 4l60e with a PI tbtc 2600 stall. It started to take forever to lock up in 4th gear. When i swapped my 5.3 in place of the lq9, i swapped back to my stock TC. I thought the P.I. TC was bad. The stock converter did the reverse affect. It would lock up right away, then unlock after a bit of driving. I talked to a tranny shop and they said it was the bands that lock the OD were wearing, and that it would need a rebuild to fix it. Instead of spending the money on a rebuild, i just decided to buy a built performabuilt. Well i put the thing in this past weekend, along with my P.I. TC and it is still unlocking while driving. Is this a tuning issue, or do i have 2 bad torque converters. This performabuilt is brand new, and it shouldnt be doing this. any info would be great

The PCM can mistake a loose converter for a misfiring engine. If it senses a misfire it will not allow lock up as a misfiring engine can be detrimental to a torque converters lock up clutch.
Have a Tuner max out the misfire tables and go from there. Be sure to verify that the engine is indeed not misfiring though!

It's been several decades since I owned a Chevy so I forget some of the basics. That said I recently purchased a 95 Tahoe four-wheel drive 350 my issue is the torque converter is not locking I have done nothing special with it it is bone stock. The one thing I did do was upgrade the performance chip to a stage 2 from Jegs. Anybody have any relatively easy concept as to why this may have happened?

Thanks joom!
thank you I suspect that going forward I'll be relying on folks in this for as my concept is to swap an LS1 into it to increase not only horsepower but fuel economy. Any suggestions on the best method of doing that?
