You make a valid point for sure you will probably sacrifice 2-3 tenths to have an 80e in your truck but after killing 2 trans with my heavy *** truck Im going to an 80e come tax return time even though my 65e is FULLY built Im going to pull the trans one last time and thats it Grey you have a rcsb 2wd so that helps you ALOT as far as longevity goes and how long it will last. Not trying to bust your ***** at all cause I realize it may seem like I am just my point of view and the busted knuckles talking I am going to get track times with my 65e and dyno sheets and then do the 80e swap with track times and dyno sheets to once and for all put to bed how much you lose with an 80e I also need the 80e to be able to take full advantage of my setup since I dont believe it will take 550 N/A hp then a 250 shot that gives me ~400 ft-lb of tq for a total of 800 and close 1000 tq at the crank bye bye 65e
I,ve had my trans out 4 times so far and I'm about to pull it again to have a look through and see if there's anything that can make it stronger. Seems like I work on it more than I play w/ it but the efforts have paid off cause I keep going faster.
With the power you're looking to make you need the 80 but there's a lot of guys that don't. I agree w/ what XLR8 said and I agree w/ you said about the heavier truck requirements. I guess my point is that the 60 is stronger than a lot of people think and I'm a good example of that. My guess would be that most of the failures are the result of the build or the tuning or the lack of both.
I look foward to seeing your track results.

The 80 w/ a good converter vs a stock 60 w/ stock converter is a no brainer. The converter can drop you .5 if you can make the truck hook.

Couldnt agree with you more. If it isnt tuned right you can say bye bye if it isnt built PERFECT its gone. I think the main thing you have working for you is the lack of nitrous use on the street. I on the other hand couldnt lay off the bottle I went through close to 40 bottles from Mid July to about Oct

Hey I have been in a toss up to, between a built 4L60e like a level 4 from Rock-on, or going and getting a built 4L80e I plan on making around 500 rwhp. Only thing is I dont want half to buy another stall for the 80e and get it re-tuned. I have a YANK 2600 stall in my 4L60e right now and my tranny is getting ready to take another dump. Do yall think a level 4 or 5 from Rock-On could take alot of abbuse with like a 3200 stall. Hey and is there any difference between a built 4L60e and 4L65e and do they use the same stall. I need some advice cause i'm lost any my tranny is what holding my truck back.... Thanx yall

Rock On gets my vote. Tell them what you're up to and they'll hook you up.
Same converter in the 60 & 65.

80e has OD 85e is just an 80e with updates in it. Like the 60e and 65e same trans but a few more goodies in the 65e. Bad Apple main diff in the 65e is that it has 5 pinion planetaries. And a built 65e will fit the bill for what you want for sure may eventually blow it up but it should live a fairly happy life depends if you beat the **** out it on a daily bassis.
