The original link no longer works but I found it copied and posted on another site.

*****dexron®-vi: Gm Techlink Information ***** - All-Wheel-Drive/Differential/Transmission Tech - SilveradoSS.com

If any one can find some documentation on why not to use it in a performance application please post it up. We are all here to learn including my self.

That thread was very informative! Thanks! I'm calling the dealership tomorrow to check the price of that dex VI. If it's less than $10/qt that's what I'll go with. More than that, I'll just go with Royal Purple at my Advance Auto employee discount.

Depending on were you purchase it from it averages about $6.50-$7.50 a quart. I bought some in gallon containers through the loacal GM dealer and it was right around $6.15 a Quart with a shop Discount.

I purchased Valvoline Brand Dexron 6 through a local parts stores for around $6.50 a quart. At the time it was the only thing available with out going to the dealer. Now just about every major oil company has it.

I get a commercial discount through the dealer as a representative of Advance Auto so I'll probably go that route. Thanks guys!

Check the dealer and see if you can get a brand like Valvoline through your store for any better price. I don't think the brand is gonna make a difference. GM has tight regulations for it to meet licensing standards.

Even though RP says it can be used in dex 3 applications, I have never seen were it actually meets GM standards or was ever approved by GM.

You do have a good cooler on your truck don't you? If not that will kill the fluid a lot faster due to heat.
