There is a tag/sticker on the case that should have a Z in the 3rd digit of the code. An example is 3KZD. I hope this helps you with your search. Vince

The 4L65 can be identified WITHOUT going in...Hell on the early models they are LITERALLY cast with the RPO code on the case (M32) other than that,although small there is a 2mm difference (298-300) in the INPUT SHAFT...So YES...A 65 CAN be identified WITHOUT going in...I just dont understand why I always see in these threads ppl LITERALLY swearing on the family that what they are saying is HOLY. If you wanna have a question answered...just google it n do your own research.

AND he didn't even share correct info!!
that 300mm input shaft was put behind the inline 6 trailblazer engine.
100% a 4l60e not a 65e
Guy seems like he's not so bright
