Default 4l80 Center Support to Line Fitting Seal

Finishing up a 80e rebuild, and ran into a question about the center support -to- line fitting seal. I overlooked this when putting the trans back together because it wasn't mentioned in any of the 3-4 references I used. But I'm rebuilding again because the last build had an immediate bushing failure. The truck never got out of the garage before fluid was loaded with metal. Tore it apart and found nearly every bushing showing heavy scuffing & wear. Now I'm paranoid and want to make sure I don't kill another one. So, if this seal was bad, could it have caused my failure? Are they commonly replaced, or was it not mentioned because they don't really wear? The trans is back together, but not in the truck. Should I tear it back down to replace this seal?
