Default 4L80-e transmission noise

When taking off (usually low throttle) there's this noise that seems to resonate from the transmission up into the center of the dash. It seems to only happen in first gear and low throttle. Ever heard an empty tin can rolling around? That's kinda what it sounds like. I had it in to the dealership and the service manager and I went for a test drive. He said it's common and something to do with the planetary gear. The truck runs great, it's really just an annoyance more than anything. Anyone else experience this?

How does the oil look in it? Maybe drain it and see if theres anything in it. Is it a wine, but goes away as you get going?

Mine was getting worse so when I did this last rebuild a couple weeks ago we put in a new low planetary and a new sun gear. The noise went away so it had to be one of those 2 items, the guy helping me with it says it was the sun gear cause it was pitted and had a funny wear pattern but since we were in there I wanted to be sure and fix it so I went with the new planetaries as well. My other truck is quiet as a mouse, but that trans only has about 20k on it.

My 4l80 has the same sound, usually notice it when taking off. Almost sounds like it is in the exhust because it is so hollow. I was hoping that it wasn't the tranny, but I guess it could be. I'd like to see if nyone else has had this same problem.

Its likely the normal first gear whine. Mine has whined from day 1, but i also believe it has helical cut gears.
