Default 4l80e broken cracked bellhousing

So I finally got around to removing my 80e. Anybody have a clue how this would happen? My best guess is it happened when my drive shaft blew. Idk but it's frusterating as hell.

Next, with no relation to the above statement/question. I removed the trans fluid that was in the pan and there was a crap load of sediment left in there. I rolled it up ina ball the size of quarter. I tried to see if it was magnetic but it wasn't. Clutches i'm guessing.

Pics or it didn't happen.......

Just kidding, but pics would help you get some answers for sure. Good luck with the repairs.

Only 3 bolts were connecting the trans to the engine. 4 of the 7 bolts on the bell housing were just holding broken bellhousing to the engine. I will take pics tomorrow. Is it because I have 2,000 hp? haha

I just found this thread:

4L80e Flexplate

It looks like his driveshaft was the root of his bell housing cracking.

Here's another thread that pushes me to think this happened when my drive shaft went. Scroll to post #10.

Yes, a driveshaft failure could definitely cause a cracked/broken bellhousing.
