4l80e different length than 4l60e?

Default 4l80e different length than 4l60e?

i am gonna swap my 4l60e for a 4l80e soon. do i need a different length drive shaft or do i just need to change the yolk?

Just change the Yolk and modify the crossmember to make it fit.

4wd requires a shorter rear and a longer front driveshaft.

I didn't have my front shaft altered...it fitted fine.
The rear shaft I had shortened 42mm.

in my 2wd i used a TH400 Long Yoke ($15 i think) cut 5/8" off. Got new u Joints and slapped it in...
OAL of the 80 is about 1/2" over the 60i think?

The transfer case works, but you either have to have the 80E fitted with an output shaft that matches the spline count of the 60E, or you have to change the input gear on the transfer case to match the output shaft of the 80E. I would recommend the latter so you can keep the beefy 80E output shaft.

Im just going to keep asking dumb questions, where would I be able to order this input gear? Did you guys have you driveshafts modified or buy new ones? Either way where?

Yeah....I bought a used 80E complete with manual (241) transfer case. I wanted to use my push button (243) transfer case so I swapped the input shafts over.
