Yeah, just get a regular tail that is the 99up good one. Before you get too involved, measure the tail and make sure the output shaft is the same length. I assume it is, but measure to make sure. If it isn't, that is the last piece in the tranny to be removed if you want to change it.

Get me the code on the sticker by the cooler lines that starts with a number followed by a 3 digit letter code. Ill look up the factory build list to see if the output shaft will work with a factory tail. Also if you remove the housing I would like to see a picture of the shaft as well. Shoot me a pm with this info or to notify me that you updated the thread.

I was under the impression the shaft in these was way too long to work with a regular tail housing, regular slip yoke. Not a fact, just something I thought I remembered when talking to Jake at Jake's performance. He set me straight on what different transmissions would work in my rclb without getting a new shaft made.

That's definitely wrong, there is at least 2 different shafts. One with a bolt on Yoke and one with a Slip Yoke. I believe they are both slightly different lengths as well.

I am sure Vince can set every one straight

Bolt on yoke has short splines that stop about 2-3/8 from the end, slip yoke should be splined all the way (commonly found in vans i guess), and then i believe yours which should be a couple inches longer. Measure overall length of the trans to the back of the shaft and post it up. I bet it is in the 33-34+ range...

I just measured my 80e, its ~32 from the bell housing to the tip of the tailshaft.
