Default 4l80e input shaft broke

Quick question how do you tell if your input shaft is broken. Tranny is out of the truck. It's 4l80 with custom Stoney manual valve body. Thank you. And with putting in a new shaft is their anything else I should do. Truck makes 400 to the wheels and is on 37x13.50. 17. With 5:13 gears. Thanks

If its broke then you will be able to pull it out the front of the transmission when you remove the torque converter.

Ok I can't pull it out but does move 1/4 inch in and out. When I spin the shaft it doesn't do anything besides spin. The out put shaft spins but it doesn't spin the input shaft even going through all the gears. When this happened I was probably doing about 60 through some whoops at glamis and out of no where I lost everything no 1 234 or reverse. When I pulled the pan off their was no metal nothing. The oil looked brand new wasn't burnt or anything. Tranny didn't get hot. Would a torque converter do this?

The input splines in the converter could of stripped out, or the turbine hub weld could of broken. Drain as much fluid as you can and get a flashlight and look at the converter splines. It will be the bottom set.... Hard to check the weld, it can still grab the turbine and feel like it is ok.

When I broke mine it would spin very easily but I could not pull it out. You could move it in and out slightly and feel it tapping on it's other half. It was a clean break,no debris in pan.

Exactly what your describing.

Mine has a 300m billet input now.

Mine is a lvl4 from FLT. It was sent back to them after it broke. They went through it and put the 300m billet shaft in.
