From your picture, if you just have that hole drilled between 14 and 47...but nothing else drilled, then just leave it.
That void can fill with oil. Won't hurt a thing.

Do NOT weld it. You'll distort things for 0 benefit.

If you drilled between 14 and 47 then ALSO drilled the hole through the bottom of the VB. Just use a pipe plug and some teflon sealant to seal the hole that goes through the bottom and you can still leave the hole between 14 and 47

I took the flexplate off the engine and it was in a bit of rough shape. I could set it on the floor and it would wobble around a bit. Also the spacer has a few little gouges from the little teeth that are on the OEM flexplate. I got a TCI flexplate to fix things up. Gonna start putting things back together this afternoon.

Default Small snag in the rebuild

So I have the trans back together and I ended up with an extra snap ring. So I opened up the transmission because it appears to be the overrun clutch spring retainer snap ring. When I got to it and pulled the ring out it was the exact same so I have 2 identical rings. I looked through everything else and can’t find any place where this went and everything looks right and correct according to the ATSG Guide.

I contacted Jakes to see if they happened to include one in this kit (Possibly for their HD direct clutch retainer spring plate) but they only send the HD Intermediate Snap Ring.

The girlfriend and I went through it checking all the diagrams in the manual and haven’t found anything amiss. Hopefully this is something really stupid I’m overlooking here. Thanks

Soooooo true lol. But I’ve driven it for about 2 weeks and nothing catastrophic has happened lol. I dropped the pan to check things out after a couple hundred miles and everything looked clean and good. Done a lot of boost pulls too so I’m moving on while the snap ring sits on my workbench.

fwiw Dust shield/cover must be used with a 4l80 or pump damage will happen.
