Default 4L80E shifting woes...

Had this engine and transmission in my previous truck, drove great. Swap it into this truck... it shifts 1-2-3, locks and unlocks the converter about 10 feet out of my driveway. It bucks, surges, etc. The tuner said that he copied my old tune into the 01' PCM. Then made the adjustments for the added gear and exhaust mods. He swears that he didn't touch the transmission tune and shift points. I am beyond aggravated, this is my daily driver. After the driveshaft episode on the dyno, my patience is worn down a bit.

I have no way to log for at least a few days. I want experienced opinions... is this a mechanical issues - TQ converter? Or is it as I suspect - all in the tune?

I need this fixed ASAP before it destroys a perfectly good transmission.

He copied the old tune but did he do the segment swap? Maybe I'm confused.

No idea, the segment swap should have carried over - shouldn't it?

That sounds like a tune issue.... If he didnt do anything with the trans side in the tune it may not have carried the segment swap... Im sure someone else will know better than me, but if it worked before theres no reason to thunk it woukd be mechanical now....

I don't think he touched it at all. The only non engine related change was to change the value of the gear ratio - 3.73 in my old truck -> 4.11 in the current truck.

It seems like I had the same problem when I first did my 80e swap. Make sure under the trans General tab 4l80e is selected in the drop down menu. I don't think you can just carry the segment over. It has to be done to the new PCM.

I woke up today and thought, "Why don't i try the PCM out of my old truck?" So I went out and swapped them... and I'll be damned if it doesn't shift and drive like it should.

Needless to say I am both relieved and pissed at the same time.

Amazing the thoughts we have when we wake up, or for that matter just arent thinking about the issue at hand...
