4L80e slipping after HD2 install

You remove the visible bolts from the pump to pull out the pump (it's heavy!) from the front of the trans, and flip it over to remove the bolts that hold the pump halves together. If you have the pump out you might not need to pull the pump apart to do what you need.
To put it back on just do the reverse, being mindful of the sealing rings on the pump and the turbine shaft as to put the pump in. Also don't forget the thrust washer on the pump. You might need a new pump-to-case gasket if the old one is bad or tears. You could also use this as an opportunity to measure/set the front end play.
If you take the pump apart it's a little more involved to put it back together. You will need a pump alignment tool but you can make your one from one large hose clamp or two smaller clamps put together.

I have some spare thrust washers if you decide to do this. You can measure your end play, tell me what your current thrust washer is, and I can see if I have the correct size for the end play you're going for. I was going for 0.010-0.020 and ended up with 0.017". Remember to subtract the turbine shaft to overdrive planet play for the measurement.

My objective is to keep this as simple as possible. I wanna get that damn end plug, put it where it belongs, and get this transmission working.
It fell toward the engine inside the pump, so I highly doubt I will find it just removing the pump, I think I will have to separate the pump.

Talk about learning the hard way, huh chuck?
I have committed to pulling the tranny out of the truck on the garage floor... now I just need to know how to remove the front of the pump to find this damn end cap. Is that going to be a huge pain in the nuts too, or is it as simple as removing a few bolts?

Call me when you get the trans out and I'll walk you through it.

I was flying solo last night and I didnt want to take it out completely on my own laying on my back.
I have the torque converter unbolted from the flex plate, and all but the very top bell housing bolt out. I need to remove the transfer case to lower the tranny further to be able to get at that top bolt.
I'm not sure I'll have time to work on it tonight, but with any luck I will make a ton of progress on wednesday night.

Yes, the transfer case is laying across the crossmember for the torsion bars... exactly why I need to remove it to reach that top bell housing bolt.
And I have a motorcycle jack under the oil pan of the transmission itself.
