Default 4l80e Swap quote

I know some of yall are going to say just do the swap my self , but i really just dont want to mess with it on my back in the driveway. Ill do anything else but just dont want to deal with tranny conversion. Anyways... got a quote from Century transmission for the swap what do yall think?

Built 4l80e- 3097.55
PI Converter - 897.51
Labor- 710
HD 3.5" DS w/ solid u-joints and yoke for 4l80e- 459.95
Misc part freight charges- 78.12
Tune- 225
Dip stick- 11.96
Dip stick tube- 22.89
Adapter harness- 297.55
Trans fluid- 41.88
After taxes and stuff came out to $5904

Thats with all new parts.. I have found a used 4l80e for 850 , but im not sure if it has a converter, also not sure which converter im going to go with.
I thought all i needed was a new yoke to use a 4l80e not a whole new driveshaft. Also i have a 2 piece driveshaft.Tune will not needed from century.FIguredi could buy an adapter harness from a vendor online for alot less, I didnt think i needed a new dipstick just the tube. After all that i figured up the cost after the fixes to be $2262.08. Havnt gotten back with century yet, what do yall think?

$5904 is a ripoff.

What kind of trans is that? You can get a decently built one for $2000 or so. The only way I'd pay more is if it's an FLT.

Did you pick out the PI converter? They are good from what I hear, but you can get something like a Hughes for about half that.

That driveshaft seems pretty expensive too, but I don't know pricing on those very well.

Tune is a rip, $225 to change a tranny segment is ridiculous.

Your stock dipstick will work fine, you just need a new tube.

Adapter harness is a rip. Get a second VSS and wire it in, then just do this with your stock round plug harness

Two things I didn't see in your list - new trans crossmember and tranny line extensions.

Anyway, I'm thinking that if you shop around you should be able to do the whole swap for less than $3000 in parts (including the trans), plus whatever the labor charge is.

Im with Thunder... thats a rip off..

Follow that diagram for the "adapter" just changes 2 wires on the harness,, White and Brown.

I just got a TH400 long yoke and chopped it 5/8" and put all new U joints in cause they had almost 200k miles on them.. Reused stock DS..

My complete swap cost me right at $900 including trans and shift kit..

That's a good deal...I'm assuming a stock trans and converter?

lpguy: If you don't need a built 80E you should be able to find a pullout with a converter either from a scrapyard or maybe on craigslist or something for $500 or less.

Yah as i said above after the ridiculous stuff is removed or fixed i came up around $2262 for everything including labor and trans... im not going with a built 4l80e just a junk yard pullout and a shift kit which ill install my self while its off the truck.. The converter i didnt pick that was just apart of the quote i got faxed, im not sure if im goign to just stick with stock or goto a different stall yet. Where i said Labor, on the fax it said ( Installing and converting to 4l80e). So im assuming that means crossmember and lines.

The Stock 80E converter is fairly loose.. i say try it first before you get into the expensive Stalls.

As said, that's $$$ Find a friend to help w/ muscling the 80e up.
The top 2 bolts on tranny suck. But flipside if u do on your back (like I've done on all of mine!) is save on labor & if it's a solid 80e swap, it'll be done once!

Speed Engineering also used to do a 4L80E conversion kit for going from 60e to 80e.

If I'm buyin a built unit, it'd be a FLT. Can't comment on convertor, but it it ain't stock, go PI or Yank.
