Default 4l80e tail shaft side to side play

I am in the process of swapping over to a 80 from my 60. With rear yoke removed how much side to side play will I have? It has about 1/8" every way I except in and out play. Normal?

Ha ha! I started a thread about this about a year ago... The conclusion I came to was, yes, that is normal.

The shaft is supported by the yoke. The yoke is supported by the bearing on the housing. Without the yoke in, the output shaft will move.

With a stock unit with factory rear end play yes this would be normal. In a performance build where the builder actually looks at this kind of stuff I would say it was a sloppy build. In your case I would say its normal given the history of the unit. Vince
