Default 4L80E takes off in second gear

when I pull up to light and come to complete stop the tranny it takes off in what feels like second gear? If i pull manually from second into first when idling off the line I can feel it downshift. It feels like it is binding. When cruising down the highway at speed it seems like it has a 6 speed because the Rpm's will vary "very slightly" like there is a gear between every gear.otherwise it don't slip and shifts very firm.
Fluid looks new
maybe filter?
maybe Alzheimer's?

Did you just do a swap from a 60e? If so, you need to do a complete segment swap. You can't just copy the tables over, there are hidden tables that need to be changed.

Did you drop the trans when you did the engine swap? All the sensors connected?

Sonnax has good articles and fixes for these types of problems. Here's a couple good places to start.

Actuator Feed Limit Valve Kit - 34200-16K - Sonnax

The Sure CureŽ Kit - SC-4L80E - Sonnax
