Default 4L80E Whines Louder After Hard Runs ** ADDED VIDEO**

Sooo, I understand it's normal for the 1st and 2nd gear whine on the 80e. I personally find mine to be a bit louder than I would think is normal but it doesn't miss a beat.

So on to the question, I got the N20 hooked up and after I make some pulls on the hwy (2nd & 3rd) when I come back to a stop and take off the 1st gear whine is A lot louder and second is more noticeable. Any thoughts to this?

It would also do the same NA but not like it's doing now. Trans probably has 6K on it

I've had three of them and have never noticed any whine.

I think it's hit and miss on 80e that whine

It has normal 1st and 2nd gear whine from first startup. 1st is louder then 2nd but I'm used to it by now.

I just don't understand why it gets louder after a hard run. I drove it to work this morning and it was back to normal.

The 4L80 whine is just characteristic of the trans in 1st gear. If it gets a little louder after a few runs it could be just from internal parts getting hotter and expanding. Just make sure it's not whining while sitting at a stop. Easiest thing to do is drop the pan and look to be safe.

Some do some dont .

The 80e in my 04 van does whine like an old school bus,
The 80e in my silverado doesn't whine at all , I was told it was the cut of some of the gears inside , but not sure Rhine or reason some do some dont.

the "built" TH400 I had in my camaro whined like a sob... I assume it's the same thing with the 80E given their closeness in relation. never had any issues though. I had several people ask if it was blower whine lol...

Here's a video, This is just normal driving not thrashin on it left it in first to about 25mph. It will be twice as loud after a hard run. Me personally I don't think it's the normal acceptance of the 80e low whine...
