4WD vs. AWD

4WD vs. AWD
Does anyone know the differences between a 4wd and AWD silverado SS?
I thought I read that my 4wd should not be driven above 65 or 70 but I saw a video of an SS going well over 100, so I was curious if the SS has a different transfer case or if there is no difference?

AWD transfer case is different than 4wd. iirc, the AWD has a 'differential' type setup between the front and rear axles, so each driveshaft can turn at a different speed. On 4wd, both driveshafts turn the same speed, making turning very hard (while each wheel is turning a different speed). I would never turn on pavement in 4wd.

I drag my truck in 4wd...most guys who do it hit the 2wd button right after launch. The jury is out on whether or not it "actually" shifts out of 4wd, but I have never seen anyone damage anything from doing it.

why would you need to go 70 in 4wheel anyway?
The only time I've gone that fast was after I had a body lift put on my blazer. the body was hitting the shifter, keeping it from going into 2wd. So I drove home 70mph 50+ miles in 4hi. never messed up.
