Long story short, I forgot I had an old hacked up NP243. So I tested it. My personal version of Simulink has not treated me well, so this time its without the fancy GUI ****...but the three representative shift buttons are on the breadboard. 2HI, 4HI and 4LO, with the neutral shift initiated by holding 2HI and 4LO. Video shows that shift.
I am going to scoot this over to some Chinamade PCBs that I will draw up in KiCAD. Everything will be downsized and squeezed together so that it fits within the same space as a TCCM or less. No solid plans for actual shift buttons yet - will likely end up retrofitting a stock 4WD shift selector.

I've got it roughed in on Kicad...still hunting down a few parts to finish populating the board. Some of these pieces are hard to come by these days with the semiconductor shortage... Once everything comes in I'll finalize it and send it off to China for printing. Then I nominate @Atomic to figure out the harnessing and packaging.

Welp, first version is sent off for printing. I wanted to make it surface mount for all the components, but the print house I use still doesn't have what I need in stock to assemble it and I don't have an oven or the experience to do that kind of soldering yet. So its through-hole for now. Will work the same but looks a little more old-school. Once it comes in I'll get it tested and see if I can break it.

The good news is I got a newer, nicer one and my plans haven’t changed. If I’m going to order a transfer case to test all this on the truck with, which one do you recommend to bolt up to a 6l80e?

Any luck
Wouldn't mind swapping the wife's escalade to 4wd

The tcase controller shouldn't take a whole lot of extra time to put finishing touches on - the problem is testing it. I mentioned guinea pigs before, but I definitely wouldn't want to just send some of these things out and hope for the best. I don't have a vehicle that uses a 243, so I'd need to be able to work with someone, preferably local to get some proper testing on it and make sure it's not going to break anything. The risks are high for this controller if it's not fully validated...an unexpected shift to 4 low for example could grenade just about everything in the powertrain. So, not sure how I want to deal with testing just yet. Open to suggestions.
