Default 4X4 truck pulls 1/2 ton class, powertrax or detroit?

I'm thinking about entering the truck pulls this summer, but I want to get a good setup. I was wondering if any in here are doing it? And if so are any using the powertrax in the rear dif?

i am not doing it but for pulling that kind of weight i would go with detroit lockers just because i havent heard much about powertrax and detroit has a pretty good reputation and history

I'm a 2wd, but I have a Powertrax no-slip. It works great and seems to be holding up fine for towing and the occasional drag strip pass, however I'm not high hp. A guy I know has made high 12 second passes on his no-slip, so they seem tough.

do you have an open rear now or a G80? the Powertrax units require that you use the carrier from an open diff.

The detroit is more expensive but is a heavier unit. If you are going to be doing pulling I would go with the detroit. The truetrac is going to have better streetability that the true detroit locker also. Also if you are towing go with the truetrac I've heard you shouldn't tow a lot with a full locker

Get full spool. If it's not street driven.
