5spd to 6spd with stock shiter location???
i would like to convert a joe gibbs 5speed manual truck to a t56 6speed manual, but i want to keep the long shifter in the stock spot instead of changing to the short console shifter. anybody know how to do this? i found this kit ( http://www.thegearbox.org/catalog/it...17/7086456.htm ) but im not sure if it will work.

I looked into it several years ago when I did mine. I seem to remember that doing that mod and maybe an offset shifter from Mcleod would get you close. Also, I think that the T56 shifter for a 67 Camaro had the most offset forward.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Keisler supposedly has a kit to hook onto the shift rails at the forward most inspection panel on the tranny, thus enabling you to use almost the exact same shifter hole as stock. I think somebody on here did it, but had to enlarge the shifter hole just a little bit towards to rear to facilitate the new shifter.
