I have the same issue with my reg. cab. I talked to bill@hpt about it, he said it hard coded into the 80e tune and cannot be changed by hpt or efi. He did say that you could run it on the 60 tune with some relays and wiring changes, but I didn't get that far. I have an 80e with a 3200 converter, super annoying.

Im doing my 80 swap this up coming weekend. but with my built 4l60 thats in there now with my 2800 tci stall. my truck does it right now. if my truck starts doing it real bad i just drop it a gear. my stock DD which is a 92 gmc sierra and every now and then it does it.

You have to wire in a relay to change the polarity of one of the shift solenoids and then run it on the 60e tune. You do not need the front speed sensor with this method.
There was a guy on tech that had a writeup on it but then he decided to take it down and charge people $20 for the instructions

I know you have to disable the 3-2 solenoid codes and there's some wires to move around. I'll do a little digging and see what I can put together, I do remember the original thread on how to do this. It's a shame the first guy is charging $20 for this.
