6 spd automatic transmission question

Default 6 spd automatic transmission question

i came through a 6 speed automatic transmission out of a c6 vette, i was wondering what all do you have to do to make it fit on a silverado 5.3 or if its even possible to put it on. i heard the transmission is located differently and that they dont have a bellhousing..... any info will help before i buy it lol

Check your truck's computer to make sure it can use the electronics in the new transmission, then you may need to modify your transmission support brace and driveshaft. One of the good high performance transmission shops can help you with the bell housing issue and other specifics.

get one out a truck... vette wont have a bell or tail housing

I would say that it is just about impossible, the trans on a vette is mounted to the rear diff and is connected to the motor by the torque tube. Like fred said there is no bell or tail housing on the vette

I know this thread is old, but as the information presented bears correction, I figured I'd post. All 6L80's have the same case. Unlike the old 4L60-70 transmissions that has Corvette specific cases, the 6L80's have interchangeable front and rear adapters (i.e. bellhousing and tailshafts). HOWEVER, there are different output shaft lengths among the 2WD, 4WD, and C6 Corvette.
