60E vs 80E

I have found that I CAN NOT tune.. haha it just doesnt work. I've tried with HPTuners and from what I understand EFI is WAY easier, but I rather take my **** to a pro, have him dick with it, put it on the dyno and know Im getting the most for the money. And if anything goes wrong, not my fault

The point was that the gearing and parasitic losses of the 80e versus the 60e cancelled out the increased power output of the 6.0 versus that of the 5.3

The dyno will read a little low, so what. There was a guy who started a thread that did a back to back comparison. He ran something like a 13.5 with the 60, swapped the 80 and ran like a 13.4. I think the "parasitic" loss with a stronger trans is . Dyno numbers are like measuring your dick.. dont mean **** if you've got 9" but dont know how to use it

Well I was figuring I will get atleast 4.11's so the 80 won't bog at all with those gears, and I will probily end up with 275/60/17's to stay cheap.
I am going to end up re-building this truck atleast once and I wondered if it was just me who does not like wide ratio's.
Also a well built 60 would more then likely survive all my plans for the truck, as I plan to get my camaro running bigger and better then ever here soon enough.
And I measure my dick from the crack of my *** to get the maximum length.

If you ask someone and they tell you the 60 is better than the 80 then they have more than likely never experienced the difference in the two or just got lucky and got that 1 in 1000th 60 that just wont quit. Ask anyone who has gone to the 80 if they would ever go back to a 60. You have your answer.

I love the tighter gear ratios and higher 1st and 2nd gears of the 4L80E. Being able to catch 2nd on a 70 mph kick down and running it up to 90 is great for passing. The only thing I don't love is the low OD ratio but really its not too awful bad. It pulls hills effortlessly so in the end it probably equals out and what little fuel economy it may loose on flat ground by turning unecessary rpms it makes up for when it comes to hills.
