Default -6an fittings for Tru-cool 40k?

Has anyone found an inverted flare fitting that actually works without modding the fittings so it doesn't bottom out on the flex part? Ive seen people grind down the female part of the fitting on the cooler and others lathe part of the hex down on the AN fitting just to get it to tighten down on the flare not the hex.

Thanks, the only people that told me about the fitting not seating problems all ran Earls fittings so I was hoping another brand would fit correctly.

This is wrong, but probably why it isn't leaking. Flared fittings should never have sealer of any kind put on them.

To the OP, All of the fittings are probably gonna be too long. You can do like most and bandaid it with some kind of sealant, or you can cut a small portion off the fitting on the cooler to where the fitting fits it properly. Thats what I did on mine.

Why is it wrong? Its not like its a bulk head fitting that has an o-ring to seal it or a JIC fitting
Also why is it an issue when the factory puts a thread sealant on their fittings too?
My way works just fine, so i have no regret of putting a thread sealant.

As I said, any fitting that uses a flare to seal is not supposed to be used with a sealant. If it works for you, cool.

I'm not gonna argue with you. Loctite makes that product (which is a thread sealant) for guys in your exact situation, or when flares are damaged beyond sealing. Its like "liquid nails". Your not gonna build a house with it, but it works good for fixing broken wooden **** around the house.

If you have flare fittings that are new and/or undamaged, no sealant is needed for proper sealing.

Why do you think they put those flares there in the first place?

I just cut the barbed part off the fitting that came with the cooler and welded a -6 end on it. Simple and works great. I would post a pic but it comes out HUGE.
