there have been rumored stand alone boxes but tuning the clutches in those is going to be a PITA

I'd love to see what stand alone products are out there for that swap. I'd really think about doing it if I new it would be worth it ahead of time. I hope somebody who knows some more chimes in here.

There aren't any stand alones yet, there is one company supposed to be working on one, but they don't seem to be working very hard at it. It's been "coming" for like 1 1/2 years or so. If there was a way to do it, I'd be doing very soon...

Just went through a 6L90 the other day.. Very nice, and well setup. Reminds me of an Allison. Has no bands, all clutch to clutch shifting. And the tuning is a PITA because it has no accumulators, it has a pressure control solenoid for every shift.

My guess is that's why it is so difficult for the stand alone company's to get a user friendly controller.

Theoretically, you won't need the a Gen IV per say. You could swap to a 58x reluctor wheel and a 4x Gen IV cam and cover with sensor in to a Gen III block and use an new E38 ECM.
