If the 17" fronts were 4-5" wide and the rears came in 16x10......

Why exactly do you want a 16" wheel? It still probably won't clear the brakes and the tire selection sucks. 15 or 17 is the way to go.

Curious what tires you guys are planning on running with the 17" fronts and rears?
Selection to match the F&R heights at 26" - 28" is pretty limited...at least with what I've been looking at.
M&H has a couple for the rear in both heights.
Fronts for a 17x7 seem to be pretty limited...in the tires I've run in the past, anyway.

I plan to use a 215/65/17 on the front with 17x7. Just over 28" tall with a 6.5-7" tread and a lot higher load rating (>1700lbs) than 4.5" skinnies. If there were a 28x4.5 radial out with a good load rating, I might be pushing the 17x4 a little more.

Will the splined "tuner" lugs fit these wheels or will one need to get a more standard "mag wheel" lug with a specific length shank?

The wheels are drilled for conical seats so what ever lug you are using now should work on these.

As for tires, I have a friend that is a Bridgestone dealer so I will likely go with a set of Fuzions for the front. Sumitumo and Kumho are also good economical choices. The Dunlop Signatures are a similar touring tire so they will work fine if you have a hookup on them. Many of the same brands are available in a 215/60/17 which is just over 27" if a shorter tire is needed/wanted.
