R thay the same when installing u just need a kit that has everthing like wheel bearings

Theya re very similar in some componenets. Yes get a full install kit plus side bearings

Now that i think about it man i think all you would have to do is shim out the pinion to make up the distance if the bolt holes lined up on the carrier and ring gear

99 and up have the 8.6 rear end with an acutal ring gear measuring 8.5! so the answer would be 99-up/8.6 rear 98-below/8.5 rear

ok well if they came from a truck with the ls style motor they will be good to go
