Is your trans installed?

Once it is, Take the yoke and slide it in the trans , shove it in till the rear seal is even with the line where the shiny/ corroded area is on the yoke. You want the seal to ride on the shiny part.

Then measure from Center of Yoke U JOINT to the face of the pinion where the straps bolt on( This is center of the rear UJOINT.) THat is the measure ment you need>

Should roughly be 2'' shorter shaft you will need from the stocker.

My Shaft (hehe) was 68'' C to C for the 60e, for the 80E i needed a 66'' C to C driveshaft.

I just did an 80 swap last week on my 2000 RC. I bought a ventless strange slip yoke and reused my stock driveshaft with no clearance issues. I slid the yoke all the way in the trans pulled an inch back marked it. Did my measuring and there was a 1/4in. difference. Threw a bastard joint in and it's done. The cross member was my only hang up.

I am also trying to figure out the best route to go. I have ordered everything for the swap on my 04 RCSB. And where I ordered the 4l80 from told me that it is 3/4 of an inch longer. And my truck has a stock steel driveshaft. So I was thinking just put the different yoke on it and be done. Whats everyone else's opinon on doing that?

Ok to anyone who wanted to know what I ended up doing.. stock driveshaft then got a stock replacement u joint from Orileys and this slip yoke..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_1526wt_1163

I slid the yoke all the way into the trans and had to pull it out right at an inch to bolt it to the axle. So I figered this should work fine. has maybe 300 miles on now everything seems to be working great.
